The move is part of Emergent&#8217;s strategy to expand its <a class="zem_slink" title="Project portfolio management" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_portfolio_management">product portfolio</a> with a drug candidate focused on <a class="zem_slink" title="Infectious disease" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Infectious_disease">infectious disease</a>. Currently, most of Emergent&#8217;s business comes from government contracts for <a class="zem_slink" title="Biodefense" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biodefense">biodefense</a>.
